    Electric Slow Cooker

    Use

    • Browning/Sautéing: for best results, always use a little oil or butter suited for frying; avoid low-smoke-point oil or aerosol sprays that do not withstand high heat.
    • When oil is simmering hot, add meat or other ingredients to be browned/sautéed, sear for a few minutes on all sides.
    • Warning: the pot is especially hot while using the brown/sauté mode. Use heat-resistant gloves/oven mitts and keep hands and face away from the pan, as hot oil may splatter. Small amounts of smoke may be generated by the browning process. If excessive smoke or splatter occurs, turn off and unplug slow cooker until it subsides. Never pour water or other liquids into slow cooker during the Brown/Sauté program.
    • Steam: Use this mode along with the steam tray to steam-cook food. Add 1" of water into the pot. Longer cook times may require more water.

    Care

    • Before cleaning, always unplug cooker and allow to cool.
    • Inner pot and lid are both dishwasher safe.
    • Wipe outside of cooker with damp sponge or cloth; do not use scouring pads, powders or chemical detergents.
    • Do not touch hot surfaces. Metal housing will become hot during use.
    • To reduce the risk of electric shock, cook only in removable inner pan.
    • Use tongs or other heat safe utensils to remove food. Do not pour or lift appliance.
    • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
    • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plug, or cooker body in water or other liquid.
    • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
    • Use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

    Additional Information

    • Slow Cook Lo: For cooking foods that require extended cooking times, typically fattier meats such as beef brisket or pork shoulder (200°F).
    • Slow Cook Hi: For cooking foods that require shorter cooking times, typically leaner meats such as chicken breast (210°F).
    • Reheat: Quickly reheat already cooked food before serving (212°F).
    • Simmer/Buffet: Keep food hot during serving (185°F).

    Cookware

    Use

    • Ideal for use on any type of cooktop, including induction.
    • Oven and broiler safe to 600°F; lid is oven safe to 425°F, but not broiler safe.
    • Safe for use with metal utensils.
    • Do not season pans.
    • Use low to medium heat.
    • To prolong life of cookware, use clarified butter or high-smoke-point oil such as safflower oil, corn oil or refined olive oil. Never let oil smoke or burn.
    • Do not use aerosol cooking sprays or extra-virgin olive oil (regular olive oil is acceptable); carbonized buildup will develop over time, causing food to stick.

    Care

    • Allow pans to cool before washing.
    • Dishwasher safe. However, to maintain durability of nonstick surface, we recommend hand-washing with soft sponge in hot, soapy water.
    • Nonstick cookware is naturally subject to wear and tear. We recommend replacing your pans as needed, or approx. every five years.
    • Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads and harsh detergents.
    • Stubborn food residue and exterior stains can be removed with nylon scrubbing pad and fine-powdered cleanser.
